Tips for how to use nuts in your recipes.

  • To remove nut shells, place 2 cups of nuts with 1 cup of water in a bowl. Cover. Cook on high for 1 ½ to two minutes. The nut pieces will be easier to remove with less breakage.
  • To blanch nuts, heat the nuts in boiling water on high in the microwave for 30 seconds to one minute. Drain and slip skins off by rubbing the nuts between a paper towel.
  • To toast nuts, bake them in the oven at 350 for 12 minutes.
  • Nuts can be frozen and stored for 6 months. It is best to freeze them still in the shell.
